Summary[]

Tsukishiro explains something to a student. He provides the student with information related to Kiyotaka Ayanokōji and the 156 other sophomores. He cautions that it is imperative that he be expelled before the end of April. Above all, he demands the public not know anything. Otherwise, Sensei's name will be tainted.

Kiyotaka was on his way to the Advanced Nurturing High School to begin his first day as a second year. As he walks into Class 2-D and takes a seat, Akito Miyake approaches him and greets him, remarking that he hadn't seen him much throughout spring vacation. Kiyotaka apologises and promises to spend more time with the Ayanokōji Group in the future. When Kei Karuizawa arrives at class, her classmates greet her and invite her to share their holiday experiences. Kiyotaka recalls that he had recently begun dating Kei after the Spring vacation, and while he was thinking about that, Suzune Horikita enters and takes the seat next to him. Seeing her,Ken Sudō and Kikyō Kushida approached her to inquire about her short hair. Suzune just states that this is her method of demonstrating her resolve, claiming that she will strive to get the class to the top this year. Kushida says she'll try growing her hair out, and while she didn't look upset, Kiyotaka could tell she was bothered by the fact that her hair resembled that of the person she despised the most.

Following the opening ceremony, the few days that passed were relatively uneventful. However, Sae Chabashira appeared one day and abruptly asked the students to take out their cell phones and install a new school application: the OAA - short for 'Over All Ability'. She informs them that this app saves student data for each school year and that they are welcome to view any student's profile. Kiyotaka examines his profile and realises that the grades have been represented as Academic Ability, Physical Ability, Judgment Ability, and Cooperativity. Chabashira continues, saying that those grades displayed were from their first year of school, but they didn't matter now that they were in their second year and said that their scores will update every month when they receive their private points. However, she advises students to keep their general ability above a certain level, or they will likely face some kind of penalty, though she herself was unsure. On the other hand, she informs them that this application is the result of a proposal made by the President of the Student Council, Miyabi Nagumo, while reminding them that the school's main focus is still teamwork within the classroom.

After explaining the purpose of the OAA application, Chabashira goes on to announce a new special exam that will involve partnering with new first-year students. The exam will focus on their academic abilities, but most importantly, their communication abilities. Furthermore, she informs them that they will be evaluated differently and that the punishments will differ depending on whether they were freshmen or sophomores. Chabashira displays the exam rules on the board and informs them that they can use the OAA app to pair up with a freshman. Both students' scores from a pair will be combined, and if the total score does not exceed 500, the second-year student will be expelled, while the first-year student will not receive private points for the next three months. Furthermore, the reward for the class will be determined based on the average score, which will be determined based on the scores of all students in the class and their respective partners. In terms of pair formation, they can only send a request to a student once per day, and once a pair is accepted, it cannot be changed. If they are unable to choose on a partner, they will be assigned at random on the day of the exam, but they will still be penalised.

Kiyotaka believes this will be a difficult exam for him because of the freshman sent from the White Room. Although the exam claims penalties for students who purposefully fail the tests, this was irrelevant to the White Room student. Suzune asks Chabashira how difficult the written tests will be, and while Chabashira claims that this will be the most difficult written exam yet, she is confident that even someone with an E in academic ability will be able to score more than 150 points. After the explanation, Chabashira bids them farewell and instructs them to study as hard as they can.

Some Class D students who were nervous about the exam, particularly those at the bottom of the OAA, expressed their concern to Hirata. Suzune attempted to calm them down by reminding them that they had previously taken similar exams. She believes that if they study hard enough and partner with someone who has at least a B in academic ability, everything will be fine. Hirata agreed with her viewpoint and offered to approach some freshmen at the soccer club.

During the break, Suzune called Kiyotaka to discuss their bet. She thinks that this exam was a good stage for them to compete in and asked him if he would agree to her challenge. Kiyotaka accepted, and their wager was sealed. Suzune changed the subject and showed him a list of freshmen with a B or better in academic ability, followed by another list of their classmates whom they should prioritize when looking for matches. Sudō was at the top of the list because she believed his personality and appearance would work against him when it came to pairing with a student. As they talked, she received a message on the OAA app with an invitation from Honami Ichinose to a freshman and sophomore meetup in the gym. As many people were likely to come, Suzune decided to go as well and asked Kiyotaka to accompany her. He agreed because he was interested in seeing how she handled the exam.
