"A Small Spark" (小さな火種, Chīsana Hidane) is a short story from Melon Books' store privilege for volume 10 of 2nd Year arc of You-Zitsu light novel series, together with the other three short stories.

Summary[]

Hiyori candidly expressed her uneasiness to Ayanokouji, breaking the norm of not revealing one's class-related weaknesses to students from other classes. However, Ayanokouji, being an exception, was known for his consideration rather than taking advantage of such vulnerabilities. He acknowledged the unconventional nature of the tactics employed by her class, emphasizing its stagnation in terms of abilities.

The uneasiness Hiyori felt revolved around an internal issue within her class, a matter known only to herself and Katsuragi. Katsuragi, being more composed, supported Ryuuen closely and offered valuable advice, navigating both the positive and negative aspects of their situation. Ayanokouji, recognizing the dual nature of the challenge Ryuuen's class faced, offered a glimmer of hope by stating that awareness among the students could be a potential solution. Seeking to uplift her spirits, he suggested going to the library together after their conversation.

Declining the offer and deciding to head to the library alone, Hiyori pondered her role in the class and the unexpected joy she experienced just by interacting with Ayanokouji. Despite being aware of Ayanokōji's relationship with his girlfriend, Hiyori couldn't help feeling apologetic for enjoying their time together, diverting her focus from the central issues concerning her class.
