"An Enjoyable Moment" (楽しいひと時, Tanoshī Hitotoki) is a short story from Toranoana's store privilege for volume 3 of 2nd Year arc of You-Zitsu light novel series, together with other three short stories.
Summary[]
Watching the people entering and leaving the beach harbor at the starting point, Arisu felt the time was passing faster for someone like her who had to stay half-retired from the start of the exam. She felt that soon injuries would begin to appear from the groups that were challenging the harsh environment of the island.
Noticing Ayanokōji approaching her, she called out to him. Seeing him, she noticed a sense of calmness and believed that living on that uninhabited island for a few days didn't matter to him. Due to her being a cripple and unable to accompany her group in the exam, she felt it wasn't too indulging. He then questions her if her group could still receive arrival bonus. Feeling as though this question was just a prelude to the main discussion, she answered that school had recognized her situation as unique and made some exceptions. She inwardly thanked Ichinose and Shibata for their efforts despite their arrival bonus being lower compared to other groups.
She then asked him about his reasons for coming to the starting point. To which he replied that one of the reason was a wasted effort pointing towards the ongoing task. She thought that she would have spectated using binoculars if he were to participate and wanted Ayanokōji to compete in place of Kōenji, who had occupied the last spot for the task. She felt that Kōenji's talent was boundless that even Ayanokōji would have a hard time going up against. She then said that there was about half an hour before Nanase completes the task and joins them. When asked about how she knew about Nanase, she replied that she regularly received the information.
Asking him to join her under the parasol, Arisu felt that Ayanokōji wasn't in top 10 and being a solo member, it was hard for him to move up in the ranking. Even though he could turn into a terrifying enemy by joining a large group, she felt that being alone with him like that made it all the more enjoyable as they can't be alone in school. She felt excited about the discussions they were about to have and wished for it to last forever or even a moment longer.
