"Because I Hate It" (嫌いだからこそ, Kirai Dakara Koso) is a short story from Toranoana's store privilege for volume 9.5 of 2nd Year arc of You-Zitsu light novel series, together with the other three short stories.
Summary[]
Masumi Kamuro is assigned the task of monitoring and contacting Ayanokōji by Hashimoto. She receives a report of Ayanokōji leaving the dorms. Even though he's not a primary surveillance target in her class, as assigned by Sakayanagi, a few students from her class have been independently monitoring him. This was nothing unusual as Class A kept an eye on various students, gathering information about their relationships and interactions.
Masumi realizes that time is running out with the winter break ending, and Ayanokōji has been spending most of his time with Karuizawa, making it challenging for her to approach him. Fearing the consequences of failing to complete her task and anticipating Hashimoto's potential reaction, she decides to take action. She locates Ayanokōji and, to her frustration, finds him in the company of another girl. However, she uses this opportunity to engage Ayanokōji, confronting him about his recent date with Karuizawa and inquiring if he's already moved on to another girl at the start of the new year.
Masumi's deep-seated disdain for men who maintain multiple relationships is evident. She believes that Ayanokōji won't discern her true intentions due to her strong negative feelings toward him. Her true aim is to assess whether Ayanokōji could pose a threat to Class A and fulfill her promise to Hashimoto, preventing him from using her first name unnecessarily. As she engages in this confrontation, Masumi grapples with mixed emotions and questions her motives. She harbors cold feelings but remains resolute in evaluating Ayanokōji and protecting Class A from potential risks.
