"Beneath a Scarlet Sky" (夕焼けの空の下で, Yūyakenosora no Shita de) is a short story from Toranoana's store privilege for volume 4 of 2nd Year arc of You-Zitsu light novel series, together with other three short stories.

Summary[]

After a long trek, Daichi Ishizaki and his group reached their final designated area for the day near the sea-side. Ishizaki, feeling ecstatic, began yelling at the sea. Even as Nishino asked him to refrain from yelling, he continued yelling, leading Nishino to give him a punch.

Just as they were merrymaking, Hiyori heard sudden footsteps behind her. Looking back, she saw the one who arrived was Ayanokōji and called out to him and asked him to sit beside her. Ayanokōji made his way towards Hiyori and began chatting with her about the exam. While talking with Ayanokōji, Hiyori thought that he wasn't someone she needs to worry about but worried that this was an uncertain exam that might lead to him retiring. She wanted to do something about it but she can't as they had reached the maximum group capacity of six. While looking at him as he was sitting beside her, Hiyori felt that even though Ayanokōji retiring would be beneficial for her class, she didn't want that to happen as he was her good reading partner and a good friend.

While looking at him, Hiyori felt that Ayanokōji had a mysterious charm that made her want to spend more time with him. She wondered if there were in the same class, she might be able to enjoy her school life even better. At last, she wished for gentle moments like this to last forever.
