Summary[]
While explaining the exam rules to the students, Sae Chabashira suggests that they select a leader as soon as possible. She went on to say that once they've decided on a leader, that person will be given a key card with their name on it. Chabashira leaves after she has finished explaining all the rules regarding the leader and 'spot' occupation.
While they were debating their next move, the girls expressed their dissatisfaction with the one and only bathroom available to the entire class and requested Hirata to use the points to purchase another one. Ike and Yukimura, on the other hand, disagreed with the girls, calling it a waste of points. Following that, Shinohara and Ike began debating whether or not to use the points. Suzune remarked to herself that arguing wouldn't get them anywhere because of Hirata’s pacifist nature.
While they were arguing, they noticed students from other classes moving around the island, possibly looking for a place to camp. The students decide to go into the forest rather than waste any more time. Ayanokōji noticed Horikita appeared tired and inquired if everything was all right. Kiyotaka decided not to press the point after she replied that she didn't know what he was referring to.
Class D decided to take a break in a part of the forest that was shaded from the sun. Hirata eventually persuades Yukimura to purchase the bathroom claiming that the other classes would most likely do the same. Chabashira responds that purchasing the bathroom would not a problem, but they must consider the fact that it weighs 100 kg, making transportation nearly impossible. With that in mind, Hirata suggests that they pick a camping spot as soon as possible. Kōenji and Kiyotaka volunteer to go in search of a suitable site, and Sakura decides to accompany them.
While Sakura struggled to move around in the forest, Kōenji sped through it quickly, relying solely on his instincts. Kiyotaka advised him to slow down in case he got lost, but he dismissed his advice, saying that someone as "perfect" as him would have no trouble getting around on his own, and added that if they lost him, they should just get on with their task of finding a 'spot'. Kōenji then continued to speed through the forest, moving atop the tree tops.Soon they lost sight of Kōenji, but moving around, they eventually discovered a large cave. When Sakura was trying to approach the cave, Kiyotaka suddenly grabbed her and hid behind some bushes. As soon as they hid, two students from Class A emerged from the cave: Kōhei Katsuragi and Yahiko Totsuka.
Yahiko remarked on how fortunate they were to have discovered such a spot on the island, but Katsuragi didn't think it was luck because he had seen it from the cruise. He cautions Yahiko to keep the keycard safe and watch what he says because other students may be listening. After the two had left, Kiyotaka and Sakura emerged from their hiding place to inspect the cave and inside they discovered a monitor indicating that the cave had been claimed by Class A. Sakura was surprised that they had discovered a special area and concluded that one of the two earlier was the leader, but Kiyotaka was sceptical about the conclusion. However, he remained silent about it.
Back with the class, Ike had discovered a good spot: a campsite that was near the river with good soil and decent sun protection. Class D decided to occupy the spot. However, because they needed a leader to register for the spot on a regular basis, they felt the need to decide on one. While they were thinking of Hirata or Kei as a leader, Kushida said that Hirata or Kei would stand out too much and added that Horikita would be ideal for the position of leader because of her reliable nature and requested her to be the leader, to which she agreed.
Hirata then instructs Kiyotaka to go fetch firewood and asks Sakura and Yamauchi if they could accompany him. While searching around the forest, they come across Class C's Mio Ibuki, injured and leaning against a tree trunk.
