This is the overall twenty-eighth chapter of You-Zitsu manga series.

Summary[]

The exam was over, and the students were back on the cruise ship. The entire D-Class gathers around Suzune to thank her for getting them first place. However, she had no idea how they had won.

Finally alone, she asks Kiyotaka to explain what he did on the exam. He tells her that from the beginning he concentrated on searching and securing areas on the island, and that is why he had offered to explore together with Kōenji and Sakura. Since Suzune did not know how he could find those areas, he explains that, before they disembarked on the island, he had noticed that the cruise speed was triple the average and was moving in a rather strange direction: it was going around the island several times. Another thing that caught his eye was the announcement that claimed "irregular views" could be seen from the bow, and it was there that Kiyotaka saw possible areas on the island.

So, he and Sakura found a cave while exploring. Suzune argues that, for example, an area with access to the river could have been more useful than a cave. Kiyotaka tells him that the important thing is not the area itself, but what is around it. Near the cave was a hut and a tower, and if they also occupied those areas they could have gotten a good advantage. She asks him why he didn't go with a key card if he planned to occupy those areas, and he replies that he wanted to explore them first, but adds that he didn't expect to get such valuable information. Suzune thinks it refers to when she found out that Katsuragi was the leader of Class A, but Kiyotaka corrects her saying that the leader was not Katsuragi, but Yahiko. He points out that Katsuragi would not have carried the key card out in the open so carelessly, thus concluding that he wanted the other classes to think that he was the leader. Furthermore, he imagines that Yahiko decided to occupy the area, despite Katsuragi warning him not to rush, because it would be easy to deduce that one of the two is the leader. So Katsuragi came out of the cave with the key card in his hand to fool anyone who was spying on them. Suzune is of the opinion that they could have avoided this problem if they had gone in a larger group, and Kiyotaka says that this is the weakness of Class A: they may seem like the best class, but they have a lot of internal conflicts.

His next target in the exam was Class C, and he mentions that Ryūen already knew the identity of the leaders of all the classes. Suzune is shocked to hear this, and Kiyotaka adds that this is the reason why he made her drop out of the test. Then, he shows her a key card with his name on it, implying that he took over the leadership of Class D upon her retirement. Although the rules of the exam made it clear that you couldn't change your leader once you had chosen one, you could appoint a new one if the previous leader dropped out for good reason. In Suzune's case, suffering from an illness was reason enough. Then, she realized that on that occasion she dropped her key card on purpose so Ibuki would know that she had it, and he even convinced Yamauchi to throw mud on her. Kiyotaka explains that he was only able to carry out his plan because he knew Ibuki was a spy, which he confirmed when they visited the B-Class camp. They had also received a C-Class student, who seemed to have had a dispute with his class, but in reality, both he and Ibuki were following Ryūen's orders. On the other hand, he noticed that Ibuki had a habit of looking directly into his eyes every time he lied, and that was how he realized that she stole Karuizawa's underwear.

Kiyotaka goes on to say that inside Ibuki's bag was a digital camera, which was to take a photo of the key card as evidence. Suzune asks him why he would need a photo of the card, since just looking at it would be enough to know who the leader is. He explains that she needed proof to give this information to someone from another class, so he poured water into the camera to damage it. Although he had no way of knowing, Kiyotaka assumed that Class A and Class C had formed a deal. Class A had hardly used their points during the exam because they got all of the Class C tools and equipment after most of them dropped out of the test. He comments that although he couldn't know who the leader of Class C was, but assumed that the last student left on the island must be the leader. Suzune argues that even if that were the case, he would have no way of knowing who's still on the island. Kiyotaka says that he was sure that Ryūen had not retreated, as Ibuki had buried a walkie-talkie near the tree where they found her. Since Ryūen had to remain on the island in order to communicate with her, he was sure that Ryūen had not retired.

Suzune was surprised that he could manipulate her in such a way, but she also wondered why he did all this. He claims that he felt sorry for her trying so hard despite being ill; however, she tells him that this was an obvious lie. Kiyotaka directly tells her that he doesn't want to tell her why he did all of this. He offers her help to get to Class A, but under one condition: she will not try to intrude on his life. Suzune accepts his proposal and declares that she will never try to find out his past.
