Summary[]
Kiyotaka reflects that, above all things, what Karuizawa fears the most is losing her position in the school because of his past. To keep it hidden, she was even willing to offer her body if need be. Karuizawa begins to speak and tells him that when people are faced with an unchanging truth, they stop resisting. she goes on to say that that is what had happened to her, since she was a victim and added that all she could do her whole life is get hate. Kiyotaka however wasn't looking for her body, but to make her see how far she could go when cornered. He takes her hand, and after lifting her off the ground, asks what her bullies did to her. She replies that they did any kind of bullying he can think of: from put tacks in her shoes, to leaving animal carcasses on her desk. They wrote obscene words on her uniform and in general, beating and kicking was a routine.
However, Kiyotaka asks her if she is hiding something else, something that justifies her going to such lengths. Karuizawa affirms that this was all, and for an instant, she looked at the left side of her waist with concern. He held out her hand to see, but she yelled at him to stop. However, her screaming only confirmed Kiyotaka's suspicions, and upon forcibly lifting her shirt from her, he noted that she had a scar so deep that only a sharp blade could have caused it. He is pleased to see that despite having such a dark past, she is able to move on. Kiyotaka knows that all he has to do is free her from the shackles of her past, so he offers to protect her from being harassed from now on. In disbelief, Karuizawa asks her if she can really stop Manabe and her friends, and he replies that she can trust him. In return, she will act in his best interest and not let her emotions interfere with this mutually cooperative relationship. To rid her of her worries, Kiyotaka pulls out her phone and shows her a picture of her being attacked by Manabe's group, which they will use as evidence to make them stop. He states that the only thing she wants from her is for her to be her ally when she needs help. Confused, Karuizawa asks her what things she wants her to do. Kiyotaka explains to her that the way Class D is now, they will never be able to make it to Class A; although if she helps him as the leader of the girls, then things can get better eventually.
Then he proposes that the first step is to pass this special exam. Karuizawa asks him how she intends to do that, and he replies that she will help him because she was a... She is shocked to hear this. Kiyotaka considers that, in a way, she was like a parasite, and now that she has attached herself to her new host, she had no other way to survive other than with him.
