Summary[]
Honami had discovered both of Kiyotaka's plans, and also deduced that Karuizawa was the real VIP of the Rabbit group. She held her phone out in front of her for her to see. Within it was a pre-composed email, about to be sent to the school, stating that Karuizawa was the VIP. However, her phone rang at the same time to notify them that the exam for their group was over. Someone beat them to it and betrayed them, and they probably sent the wrong answer thinking Kiyotaka was the VIP. Honami remarks that it was a shame, as she had come so close to winning.
Kiyotaka asks how she knew Karuizawa was the VIP. Honami replies that, like Teruhiko Yukimura, Kei was also acting differently than usual. She explains that she was constantly giving Kiyotaka glances, even though he was someone she didn't usually pay much attention to. Honami mentions that she wouldn't have sent that email anyway because this strange behavior was her only evidence. He asks her why she didn't tell anyone about it. She tells him that then the other classes will be able to jump to the wrong conclusions, and they had better be wrong because it would be to their advantage. She said that she didn't want to aim for the first result, where everyone got points. She also didn't want the third result, where someone would betray them and get the points for themselves. Honami tells him that from the moment she knew that the VIP was not someone from Class B, she wanted to let another class betray them on purpose. She believes that the traitor must be someone from Class A. Kiyotaka suggests that it must be Machida, but she thinks it should be Morishige, since Morishige was part of the Sakayanagi Faction, and it is possible that he thought it would be more profitable to gain points by betraying Katsuragi than by following his orders. Honami tells him that she thinks he was amazing because the conversation he was having with her was spontaneous. Kiyotaka lies, saying that it's all thanks to Suzune, and assures her that Suzune was the one who gave him instructions on how to act in certain situations. Shortly after, their phones rang again at once, with four messages from the school. These messages came one after another, almost at the same time, making Honami surprised.
Later that night, Kiyotaka was waiting alone in the cafeteria on the deck of the cruise ship. Karuizawa approached the table and apologized for making him wait. She asked him if everything went well. He assured her that Class A sent the mail to the school with his name on it. Karuizawa wanted to know how he was so sure. While they were talking, another person came up to them and called out to them. The person who called out to them was Hirata. He congratulated them on their good work and asked if he could sit down with them. They both agreed, despite Karuizawa looking uncomfortable. Hirata asked where Suzune was, pointing out that it was almost time. Kiyotaka remarked that Suzune was the type of person who always came at the last moment. Suzune appeared moments later, accompanied by Sudō. They asked her why he came with her. Suzune asked them to ignore him and said that he was following her like a ghost. More importantly, she was worried about the latest emails from school. These emails announced the end of the exam for several groups, specifically: the Rat, Horse, Bird, and Boar. They consider that it is possible that the identities of some VIPs from these groups have been discovered. Hirata informs them that he tried asking in Class D to find out if any of the boys had sent any betrayal mail, which was not the case. Karuizawa adds that the girls didn't know anything either. Kiyotaka was curious as to what Yamauchi did during the exam. Hirata tells him that Yamauchi was going to send a betrayal mail, but since he was hesitant, somone else took the chance and sent the mail. Karuizawa recalls that when Kōenji betrayed the Monkey group, the school's response was immediate, implying that multiple people had betrayed their groups at once. They concluded that the ones who betrayed their groups were most probably from a single class. Hirata speculates that they sent the betrayal messages at the same time, so they could show that it was coordinated beforehand. Suzune agrees, since she can think of only one person capable of organizing something like this. While they were talking, the person in question, Ryūen, walked up to their table.
He greets her and thanks her for meeting in such an obvious place. On the other hand, he wants to know why she was with so many people, since he took her as a lonely person. She simply deflects his question. Ryūen asks if she believes Class D could get good results. Suzune says that to a certain extent she got them, and then remarks that he looked quite relaxed. Ryūen states that he wouldn't have come otherwise. She watched him with an expression of disgust and taunted that he had similar confidence prior to the Island test results. He told her to stop taunting, assuring her that she would only humiliate herself otherwise. Ryūen informed her that he knew the identity of their group's VIP. Sarcastically, Suzune told him that she was happy for him and would look forward to seeing his results. He suggested telling her right now, so she wouldn't have to wait. She commented that at this point, he just looked like a loser. After all, the exam had already concluded, and no traitors had appeared in the Dragon group. According to Ryūen, this was all thanks to his immense generosity. Suzune asked him to tell her who the VIP of the Dragon group was. He laughed and replied that it was Kikyo Kushida, leaving everyone present at the table shocked.
