Summary[]

As Kiyotaka was leaving the classroom after school, he plugged his headphones into his phone to listen to a message that had been sent to him earlier. After hearing it, he nodded in agreement and noted that he now had a better understanding of the situation in the other classes and concluded that no further preparation from him was required. On his way there, he passed by Sae Chabashira, who was watering some plants. When she sees him, she remarks that it was unusual for him to be returning so late, adding that she had never seen him hang out after school. However, Kiyotaka doesn't place any importance on what she said. Changing the subject, Chabashira inquires if he had already begun planning for the sports festival. He responds that he understood her explanation of the exam in class and asks if she meant something else. She claims that she expected him to devise some elaborate strategy, but Kiyotaka claims that he hasn't done so. As she was beginning to say something, he told her that he hadn't forgotten what they talked about, referring to her threat to expel him if he didn't make it to Class A. He does, however, remind her that he was free to use whatever methods he desired. She acknowledges this, but warns him that if he is no longer useful to her, she will abandon him. Kiyotaka, tired of talking about it, bid her farewell and hurried back to the dorms.

In the next homeroom, students from Class D discussed how to effectively manage the sports festival. Suzune suggests that the most athletic students participate in competitions where they have a better chance of winning. However, Shinohara argues that this would make less athletic students unable to win in any of the events. Sudō agrees with Suzune, believing it was a simple decision on their part. Yukimura admits he isn't very good at sports, but says he wouldn't mind agreeing if Sudō was willing to compete in the majority of the recommended participation events. Because he is confident in his physical abilities, Sudō was enthusiastic about the idea. Hirata informs everyone that if they all agree to this plan, the discussion will come to a close for the day. Karuizawa, on the other hand, defends Shinohara's argument. She believes that if they follow Suzune's idea, they will be unable to unite as a class, and she then asks Kushida for her thoughts on the matter. After some hesitation, Kushida responds that she understands Shinohara's and Suzune's points of view and believes that it would be best to pursue an alternative plan that could persuade both athletic and non-athletic students. Suzune believes they can simply persuade some students who are certain they will not need extra points for the upcoming written exams to give their points to the more insecure students. According to Karuizawa, this would only compensate for the points they could earn, leaving out other prizes awarded to top finishers. She then asks others what they think. Suzune is perplexed when Karuizawa's friends decide to support her. To settle the argument, Hirata instructed them that if they couldn't come to an agreement, they could just take a vote. Suzune's plan received sixteen votes, whereas Karuizawa's received only thirteen. Noting that Kiyotaka hadn't voted, Suzune inquires as to why he did not vote. He responds that his policy is to be neutral. She claims that if it was true, he should have voted for her plan because it provided them with the best chance of winning.

As the classes ended and students left the classroom, Kiyotaka reached for his phone to write an email. After that, he looked around and then glanced at Karuizawa as she was preparing to leave with her friends. Kei noticed his glance, but left without saying anything. Seeing her leave, he concluded that she hadn't understood his intentions. However, shortly after leaving the classroom, he ran into her, waiting for him near the stairs. She said that she decided to wait for him since he seemed to want to tell her something, and added that she had something she would like to talk to him about as well. Karuizawa inquires why he texted her during the argument, and she pulls out her cell phone to show him. In that email, he instructed her to oppose Suzune's plan and then consult with Kushida. Kiyotaka assures her that questioning all of his actions would be pointless and added that he might not have an answer for all her questions. But if there's one thing he would say, it's that he has no intention of moving up to Class-A, although he thinks helping his classmates reach it wouldn't be such a bad thing. She doesn't comprehend what he's saying and wonders what he's talking about. He tells her that he can't put it into words yet because she won't believe him if he just said it, and decides to tell her something that would make her believe him. Kiyotaka informs her that a traitor would emerge in this exam who will leak secrets from Class D.
