Appearance

Sae's full appearance in the anime
Sae is a young woman with long brown hair that is tied in a ponytail with bangs swept to the left, brown eyes, a well-endowed voluptuous body and she is mostly seen with a serious expression on her face, although it does change into a smile on rare occasions. She is described as attractive by several who quickly took pictures of her at a school festival.
Her normal outfit consists of a black blazer with a white polo shirt underneath, a short black skirt with stockings and a pair of black heels, or long suit pants and a pair of white heels. She once wore a tracksuit for the island exam. During the festival, she wore a maid suit and garnered attention from both male students and adults.
Personality
As a teacher, Sae is very serious about her job. This was shown when she still made the effort to teach her class although most of them were not paying attention to her lesson. She follows the school rules to the letter which is shown when she bluntly told Ken Sudō that he would be expelled from the school for failing the test. She isn’t attached to her class and only does the bare minimum in aiding them in their endeavours. She prefers to let them fend for themselves and wouldn’t go out of her way to assist them even if they request her assistance. With that said, a few students have caught her eye and made her job more fun than it otherwise would have been.
She has subtle sadistic tendencies and sometimes shows them in public such as when she called her students disappointing after informing them that they wouldn't receive points after they idiotically blew through them in a month and took joy in their anguish and perplexed expressions. She also demanded a large sum of points from Kiyotaka Ayanokōji as part of his deal to prevent Ken from being expelled. She did this because she knew that he didn't have the amount to pay for such a thing and was curious to see what he would do next.
Despite her sadistic and arrogant tendencies, she has shown some leniency towards the class as well. She gave subtle hints as to why she wasn’t punishing students who were either sleeping or playing on their phones but none of them realized that each of their blatant disregard of the rules were being captured. She was also willing to rescind Ken's expulsion after Kiyotaka and Suzune Horikita upheld their end of the bargain to halt their classmates' fate, showing that she is at least honorable to her word.
She seems to have taken an interest in Suzune and Kiyotaka, as their selfless deed was something she had never seen at the school and wasn’t expecting such an outcome from a class she deemed worthless. She appears perceptive, as she was able to recognize the depths of Kiyotaka's intelligence and figure out that he was hiding his talents on purpose as he wouldn't be in the lowest ranking class if he was that amazing. She tried blackmailing him to reach Class A after his father requested that he be expelled but he refused to succumb to her threat.

Sae unfazed by Kiyotaka's actions.
She is shown to approach most things indifferently as shown when she was unfazed by Kiyotaka grabbing her by the collar after she ordered him to reach for Class 1-A, not punishing him after the ordeal either. She was also amused by Kiyotaka's refusal to comply with her and his father's wishes to advance even though she previously threatened to expel him.[1]
According to herself, she has lived a life full of regrets implying that there were some terrible events that transpired some time ago. She has been seen smoking a cigarette when by herself, using it as self-medication to reduce her stress. She does give praise when praise is due such as when Kiyotaka played a perfect mellifluous piece on the piano which she admits that even when given a lifetime, she wouldn’t be able to reciprocate such a breathtaking feat that he did so effortlessly.
Background
Some years ago, Sae attended Advanced Nurturing High School and was formerly a student of Class D. She attended school with Chie Hoshinomiya the current classroom teacher of Class B. The two have sustained an amicable relationship and sees each other as friends, despite their obvious juxtaposing personalities and demeanours.
After her graduation, it is unknown as to what she did but, according to herself, she lived a life full of regrets before becoming a teacher at her old high school.
Plot

Sae introducing school system to class 1-D.
Sae introduced herself to the students of Class D and told them that she would be their teacher for the next three years. She told them the importance of points and how they could use them, much to their delight. For the next month, she teaches them while turning a blind eye to her class as they go through their points and their blatant disregard for basic school rules such as texting during lessons and napping.[2]

Sae showing her disappointment.
After the month was over, she labeled her students as disappointments as she informed them that they wouldn't receive points after they blew through them in a month and took joy in their anguish. She felt no sense of remorse as her class lamented on how to survive the school year and lambasted them by saying that no class in the school history has done what they did which is attaining 0 class points in the first month. She further degraded them by comparing their performance to other classes and subtlety saying there were put in Class D for a reason. She then promptly left soon after, not bothering to look back as she holds no sentimental attachment or responsibility towards her first impression of a class full of rejects.
Later on, a quiz is given and she informed them if any of them fail, they would be expelled for it. After the test, Sae announced to the class most of them did well but only Ken would be expelled as he was one point away. She told the shocked boy that he would be expelled when the day is over as she leaves the classroom.[3]

Sae is implored by Kiyotaka Ayanokōji to rescind (revoke, cancel or repeal a law, order or agreement)) Ken Sudō's expulsion
Sae went out to the roof to smoke, where she was met by Kiyotaka Ayanokōji who she told to go to class as he decided to talk with her. He asked her about equality and she seemed intrigued by someone so young asking her. After she gave her answer, he requested that she halt Ken's expulsion and offered a compromise by giving his own points to give Ken one more point to pass. She was impressed by his tenacity and deductive skill as he deduced that it was within the rules after recalling her earlier words. As she mused at his offer, she states she would accept if he gave her a large sum of points but knew that he didn’t have enough. She also knew that he was a loner and so expected him to give up, due to the lack of time. However, Suzune Horikita stepped in and offered her own points as well. Sae was amused by this and accepted their payment and told them not to tell Ken that he won't be expelled, at least for now. Sae left and told them not to disappoint her since they could possibly advance to Class A, which is something nobody in the history of Class D had done. Suzune informed her that she intends to ascend to Class A stating that those with defects can overcome them and advance as Sae leaves amused by this.[4] She scoffs at the idea but now with the addition of Kiyotaka, she decided to place her expectations on him and knew he will be the lynchpin and deciding factor for her class.
Following Ken's fight with Class C, she went to his hearing where she was surprised that the important Student Council President to be residing over it. Manabu Horikita told her that his busy schedule permitted his presence over the meeting as Sae was amused by his reply. She smiled while watching as Kiyotaka snapped Suzune back to her senses after she got scared by her brother's appearance at the hearing. Sae then watches as Suzune eloquently argues with Class C and even makes them mess up on their lie on how the situation was caused. Her trump card was bringing out Airi Sakura who witnessed the entire incident, even bringing visual evidence of it and presenting it. When Kazuma Sakagami notes on how it simply proves Airi was there and the photos can't tell who started it, he talks with Sae for a compromise to which she was intrigued. Kazuma states a week long suspension for his students and a two week for Ken but Sae doesn't give an answer as Suzune argues with Class C for all accusations being dropped against Ken. Manabu then broke up the quarrel by telling everyone he would make his decision the next day.
After Class C withdrew the complaint, Sae summoned Suzune to the school roof where she inquired as to how Suzune had gotten the other class to withdraw their statement but was given no answer. Instead, Sae told her to understand Kiyotaka better as she needed to know the "defective" traits of those around her and that he was the most defective student of D-Class since he hides his amazing talents and chose not to use them. She warns her that she better hope that he is on their side and remain in his good grace, fully comprehending how terrifying a student he can be.

Sae tries to blackmail Kiyotaka.
During the school cruise, Sae was contacted by Kiyotaka's father who told her to expel his son. With this, she gets in touch with Kiyotaka and he meets her while a play is going on as he questions her reasons for summoning him. Sae doesn't tell him his father contacted her but does inform him that a mysterious man told her to expel him immediately. Kiyotaka is indifferent to this but already knows who the mysterious man was and tells her that he has done nothing to get himself expelled as Sae tells him regardless of his intentions it's her judgment. She then offers him a deal if he starts making efforts to reach Class A, she'll protect him but he refuses and she states he will be expelled. In response. he grabs her by the collar stating he will not be manipulated and she'll regret her attempts to do so. Unfazed by this but amused, she states her life is filled with enough regrets and tells him to make his decision soon.

Sae going over the survival test.
When the ship reached a Deserted Island, Sae explained to the students that they will undergo a survival test for the next week and they will get bonus points should their class succeed.[1]
On the final day of the test, she was in the stands when Kiyotaka appeared carrying an unconscious and battered Suzune who was ill. He asked for her to withdraw as Sae questions what he intends to do as he requests that he become the leader of his class since it was within the rules.
After the survival test, she summoned Kiyotaka to the theater where she commended him on his victory over the other classes as he shrugged it off. He then asks if someone really wanted him expelled and he states he won't do anything for her without proof. Sae simply revealed her knowledge of his past as evidence before she compared him to Icarus and finally tells him that it was his father who made the request to expel him. She states his father replied to his refusal to one day he will pick expulsion of his own free choice. Once again, Kiyotaka refused her offer to go to Class A, to which Sae doesn't protest or threaten him like before. Sae then asked him what he plans to do now, to which he vaguely offered his answers as she smiles in amusement.[5]

It was later revealed that Sae had her own ambitions for reaching Class A, and her threats against Kiyotaka were bluffs. This all comes to light when Kiyotaka's father visits him at school, and Kiyotaka deduces that Sae does not know as much as she says she does, and that her connection to his father is not as close as she said. Sae did not receive direct orders from Kiyotaka's father, and also does not have any authority to expel students.[6]
