"The First Gift" (初めての贈り物, Hajimete no Okurimono) is a short story for volume 9 of You-Zitsu light novel series, from the purchase of MF Tape J 015 collection, together with other four short stories.
Summary[]
Ichinose, secretly went to the Keyaki mall at the night just before it was closed and went to a chocolate shop for buying the chocolates from Valentine Chocolate corner. But by the time she got there, it was already removed as Valentine's Day was already over, but the store still had a large variety of chocolates ranging from several hundred yen to thousand yen.
With the lack of students at night, a clerk asked her if she was looking for a valentine's chocolate to give to a boy she liked. She refused, saying it wasn't a boy she liked, but the one she owed and wanted to thank. She thought it was strange that the first gift she would ever give to someone would be Valentine's chocolate. She asked the clerk what they recommended who in turn answered her to rely on her intuition and select one as that would be the best present she could gift.
The clerk teased her if she wanted an 'I love You' card too, to which she refused and thought that if she gave him chocolates with such a card, he would get confused. She didn't even think of him that way as this was only a way to thank him. She thought she would give him the chocolates she purchased herself.
