Summary[]
Sakayanagi Arisu enjoyed a late-night phone call with Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. Arisu’s feelings were immediately evident as she had smiled even before the call connected, simply anticipating the sound of his voice. She felt an unusual comfort and connection when talking to him, describing it as being on the “perfect wavelength.”
Arisu had apologized for calling late, but Ayanokouji had reassured her it was fine. Her excitement had been subtle but unmistakable, as she was grateful for any time spent interacting with him, no matter the reason. He had asked her about the challenge she recently accepted from Ryuuen, which involved the risk of expulsion. He expressed curiosity about why she had accepted, mentioning Class A’s position and the protection point she held, which shielded her from immediate expulsion. She was not surprised that Ayanokouji knew about the challenge, confident in his resourcefulness and perception.
Calm and self-assured, Arisu brushed off any concerns, convinced she would easily defeat Ryuuen and seeing the challenge as him "tightening the noose around his own neck." She assured Ayanokouji that she didn't need his concern and believed that just witnessing the outcome would suffice. However, she secretly wished he would worry about her, even if she wouldn’t admit it openly.
The phone call had not merely been about the current situation with Ryuuen but also hinted at Arisu’s ultimate goal of confronting Ayanokouji in a serious, competitive showdown. She had envisioned this rivalry ever since they reunited at school and felt that the time for such a confrontation was drawing near, though she would first have to overcome Ryuuen. As they spoke, she gradually became drowsy, feeling a sense of warmth and happiness from talking with him, and eventually drifted off to sleep.
