"Way to Survival" (生き残る方法, Ikinokoru Hōhō) is a short story from Melon Books' store privilege for volume 7 of 2nd Year arc of You-Zitsu light novel series, together with other three short stories.
Summary[]
The maids began to be anxious about the long queue that had formed in the hallway while they were working in the maid cafe. Kushida, who had some free time, went to check the queue. Even though they should be pleased with the queue, Kiyotaka noted that customers who had grown tired of waiting in line had begun to leave. Kushida thought that despite having so many customers, they were unable to service them all.
Concerned about when the queue would collapse, Kushida informed Kiyotaka that she had a plan, knowing how difficult it was to rewrite a bad impression. Even though they couldn't let the customers leave, the customers were bored and hungry, and it would be difficult to have them continue waiting. So she decided to use the department store food sampling strategy and went out with a small bag of cookies to offer to the waiting customers.
She first apologized for the delay and then began handing out cookies to each customer. All she now had to do was wait and watch, and if someone tried to leave, she'd use glances and gestures, trying to make them understand how horrible it would be for her if they went. As a result, she could kill two birds with one stone: she contributed to the class, and her classmates felt indebted to her. Kushida claims that this was her strategy for survival so that she can avoid expulsion while also making her presence known.
